Salt demand

EVERY ANIMAL HAS A SALT DEMAND
Under normal temperatures horses need about 0,2 to 0,3 grams per kilogram of bodymass of salt per day. Salt envisages the need for sodium and chloride. The more the horse sweats - with exercise or high temperatures - the need for salt increases to 0,3 to 0,6 grams per kilogram of bodymass of salt per day. In this case it's advisable to feed Horse Electrolytes.

INSUFFICIENT SALT
Insufficient salt in the diet of your horse can lead to abnormal eating behavior, such as (excessive) licking (for example; your sweat), chewing or eating sand or dirt. Does your horse often eat sand? Then use Equi Psyllium Plus to remove sand from the horse's body.

HORSES NEED SALT, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE!
If a horse does not get enough salt, big chance the horse will drink less too, which is obviously very dangerous in hot weather. It is best to provide your horse with salt throughout the year. So your horse can decide when they need extra salt. A salt lick is a common way to administer salt to a horse.

WHY A SALT LICK?
Loose salt is increasingly being discouraged! You often feed either too little or too much or in different places. In addition, the salt (when it falls on the ground) comes in contact with materials such as concrete, which are affected by it. The price advantage is thus a huge cost disadvantage!

PROVIDING SALT
Salt can best be provided by using saltlick. Salt licks ensure an adequate intake of salt, but not too much. Salt licks can be placed anywhere in the stable. Saltlicks can be mounted to a wall by using a salt lick holder.
